A novel method by microwave cutting ceramics based on thermal crack and trajectory control

Herein, the microwave thermal crack method is innovatively employed in cutting Al2O3 ceramics. Different from conventional technology, controlled fracture progressive and environmentally friendly, which adopts tensile stress to peel off brittle material into two parts. The heat source induces as stress. Additionally, based on Fourier transfer equation thermo-elasticity, physical model of ceramics established calculated. thickness graphite coating, width prefabricated process were studied. effect coating trajectory was also investigated by simulation combined with test. From result, it can be seen that narrower weaker processing ability better control ability. microscope adopted evaluate surface cross-section morphologies detailly.
